Message From the President Throughout my terms as a Town Board member and then as Supervisor of the Town of Colonie, I supported the ongoing development of the Pruyn House Complex. The Friends of the Pruyn House is a not-for-profit group formed to oversee the running of the facility. Over the years, we have seen the House and Carriage House restored, the Buhrmaster Barn moved and re-constructed, the woodshed/privy moved so it could become a Tool Museum, and the Verdoy Schoolhouse brought to this site as a gift commemorating the Centennial celebration of the Town. An area of dilapidated farm buildings was transformed and became our lovely herb and flower gardens. So many people from this area who serve as volunteers at events, caretakers of the gardens, Trustees on the Board of the Friends, and Town officials make all of this happen. Today, over 11,000 people visit annually. They come to enjoy the summer concerts, hear a special program, mingle with friends at Old Fashioned Sunday, or attend a wedding reception. Even in light of these tight economic times, we continue moving forward planning for future growth and development. The upcoming year brings many new events as well as a continuation of the programming many of you have come to enjoy. If you are new to the Pruyn House, we encourage you to stop by and enjoy good music, good food, and dancing at one of our upcoming summer concerts. If you’ve been to the Pruyn House before, we look forward to seeing you back again! In the meantime, the Friends of the Pruyn House Board and the Town of Colonie will continue to work hard to maintain the grounds and buildings while also expanding the gifts that the Pruyn House Complex can bring to our community.Sincerely, Mary E.
